Food is excellent, and they have Chili Rellenos and Tamales which is always a good sign. Good selection of beers and Jarritos. Can get really busy.
MoreI enjoyed eating here. The food is pretty good and can be bought at an affordable price. I also recommend their horchata.
MoreBland, expensive. Super burrito filled with rice and barely any meat. Stingy on the chips. The bright spot is the salsa bar. Hard to find a good burrito around here.
MoreMy favorite place to get street tacos in Alameda. Food is authentic and delicious. I have done some traveling to Mexico and Latin America, and Calafia Taqueria is just like what you would get there. It is a little hole-in-the-wall place, but fantastic. They have an out door patio in the back too.
MoreBest tacos in Alameda. Fish tacos are great, tamales, and awesome carnitas. Plus the salsa bar and outside seating.
MoreI was on the hunt for the best fish taco in AlamedaI was really disappointed.I ordered mine with no mayo, and it came with mayo ... YECH!They were really nice about getting me a new orderBut it was greasy and I didn't like the coating
MoreGreat salsa choices, shrimp tacos and horchata.
My new go to spot, it's up there with my favorite taco truck (sinaloa). This is my second visit and tried steak and lengua soft tacos... Deliciosos!!! Beer, aguas frescas and tamales... Great variety and friendly service!
MoreDefinitely one of, if not the best pork burritos I have ever had. The pork was juicy and so full of flavor. There is a small place inside to eat as well as an outside area. Service is great and food is so good. 5 stars for the taste.
MoreWe eat here at least once a week. Love the salsa. To-go packaging is mostly compostable or recyclable, the only plastic is the salsa containers. Our go-to Mexican fix on the island.
MoreI just moved to Alameda and was surprise that Califas Taqueria lives to the name one of the best Taqueria I had a super burrito with extra meat. My drink was a large tamarindo I have to say it was good. The place is very Mexican decor. The cashier very fast. Service was great and the smells of the food being cooked can smell it outside most mission taqueria's smells don't make it outside. The picture of the burrito in the bag is big and weighs what a burrito should be like.
MoreI've had better chilis rellenos, but service was good and food was worth the wait.
MoreAlways quality food here, always. Good people run the place as well.
Food is decent, but is way over priced. Cashier was quick to turn the screen around so i could tap in tip percentage. How ever i picked up my food from the counter after they called out my number and a sign on the wall with an arrow dirty dish here. An indicator that i had to buss my own table. $27 is a lot of money for a self serve meal and a soda for one person.
MoreOrder online and stop by Super Hero's next door for a sweet treat.
Great service and excellent flavor. Haven't had a meal from there yet that I haven't enjoyed.
MoreThe Fish Tacos are spectacular!
This place has great fish tacos and I love the grilled peppers
Tacos are really good!
The food and service here is always incredible. Love their quesadillas and tacos, which are also pretty affordable!
MoreChips were soaked in oil, ordered torta with no lettuce or tomato, and tamales. Torta came with lettuce and tomato, and sopping wet, meat was super bland and chewy, more bread than anything and fell apart. 3 oz of sour cream was an extra 2.50.... tamales had something with seeds mixed in? Was only able to eat one tamale and tossed the rest. Would not recommend
MoreThe food is very good. The people that work there are very helpful and friendly and the place is clean and friendly.
MoreBest Mexican food around. Love it. Everything is amazing. Well worth your visit!
MoreExcellent authentic Mexican food in a cozy, colorful eatery. Nice salsa bar too. Loved the big veggie burrito.
MoreGreat place to grab a bite! Friendly service! Good food! Low waiting time. Even the picked carrots are good!
MoreVery quick service. The ceviche was fabulous. Really delicious salsa selection. High quality meat- they do have chorizo even though it's not listed on their menu.
MoreFirst time here. Delicious burritos ...yet both of us felt the sour cream was a little too heavily used. Would probably request they go light on the sour cream with future orders. On point, otherwise!
MoreUsed to love this place but last 4-5 times I've gone I've been very very disappointed in the food. Not sure what has happened but unfortunatley I'd have to recommend eat elsewhere. That really saddens me to say but theres a Jack in the box and a taco bell right down the road that would probably satisfy more and save you some $$.
MoreThis is my favorite Mexican food in Alameda. The food is tasty, the service is no nonsense and very reliable. Everything from the ceviche to tamales have great flavor and are made with love. Also check out the patio!
MoreGood mexican food.
Solid options. Very tasty. They offer hard tacos which are great. Often you have to wait a while when you walk in and it seems that all the delivery orders are somehow always ahead of you.....
MoreGot the super steak burrito. Fatty meat. Just full of beans and rice. Ordered mexican coke, but never never received, didnt go back to get it because parking was tight.
MoreAmazing, amazing tacos. The chips are just okay, if that's important to you.
HUGE portions, affordable prices, good food.... count me in!The fish tacos are good, but sometimes there's a bit too much cabbage on top. The burrito is like the size of a small baby, so only get it if you're starving or count on taking the rest with you.Free chips and salsa bar!
MoreAwesome food, fantastic prices, and fast service.
Not clean and over priced. 2.50 for a small little side of sour cream! That’s the price of a tub at Safeway. The food is not great. Tamales were falling apart right out of the case. Bland. Would rather go to Oakland for some authentic stuff.
MoreThis place is a hole in the wall but the food is Amazing. The burritos are fresh and by far some of the best I've had. Try the pork supreme burrito. The pork is so moist and delicious and the size is so big that I always have some for the next day. Home made sauces and salsa are delicious, so hot and spicey .
MoreI've been a customer for many, many years—back when I lived in the Mission, yes even then, I felt like La Calafia offered one of the best burritos in the land. Grilled Veggie Burrito with a little cheese & sour cream added... The best. Thanks for being here for us, La Calafia!
MoreGood food. Counter people nickel and dime you. But, overall, food is worth the wait.
MoreFriendly staff. Quick service. They forgot to take off the onions on tacos for my wife but fixed it immediately. Fish tacos were great. Awesome patio in the back.
